Fit For A Future King
Monday, March 11 , 2019
It is Chilstone’s 65th year in business, which is as long as Prince Charles has been heir to the throne. In fact, he is the longest serving heir in history. Prince Charles was five when his mother inherited the throne. For decades he has a huge impact on the gardening and farming communities raising awareness of environmental issues and sustainability.
Prince Charles celebrated his 70th birthday in the autumn, with the release of a book, looking back at his life and service to the crown. We were honoured to be featured in a book, written by Robert Jobson, Our Future King, recognises our work on heritage projects. We’ve worked with Kensington Palace and Hever Castle, world famous royal residences.

A Gardening History
Prince Charles is famous for his love of gardening. And so are we! Based in rural Kent our show garden is a beacon for gardeners around the world. We have made so many special commissions and restorative projects for our customers over the years, not to mention the gardens and stands we have featured on at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show over the years. This shared love of gardening is why we were selected to feature, something we are really proud of!
Part of Our Heritage
Queen Elizabeth II was crowed in Westminster Abbey in June 1953 aged 26, 16 months after the death of her father. Chilstone started the same year. Since then, Elizabeth II has become the longest serving monarch in British History with only Queen Victoria coming close to her record with a 63 year reign.
Queen Elizabeth II is the 40th monarch to rule since William the Conqueror was crowned in Westminster Abbey on Christmas Day in 1066.
Six and Half Decades of Stone
We have been handcrafting cast stone garden ornaments and architectural stone for a very long time. We couldn’t do it without the support of our customers.
