Chilstone are back at the Chiddingstone Literary Festival with The Children’s Laureate!

Chilstone are back at the Chiddingstone Literary Festival!

YAY!!!!! We will be there on Bank Holiday Monday 7th May! It was fantastic last year. This year looks impressive.

You can buy tickets here.

Building on the success of 2017

Last year we were delighted to sponsor the extremely talented and Award Winning Children’s author Piers Torday (The Last Wild Trilogy, There May Be A Castle and new release, The Lost Magician). Piers’ writing just gets better and better, fostering a love of reading for pleasure among his young readers as well as stretching their minds to consider big issues facing their generation. His work with literacy charity, Beanstalk has helped many children learn to read. If you’d like to help children and schools in your area please contact Beanstalk  to volunteer.

Proud to Support Literacy with the CHILDREN’S LAUREATE!!!!!

Yes, that’s right! This year we are back at Chiddingstone, but we were blown away when we were asked to sponsor the Children’s Laureate! The amazing author-illustrator Lauren Child, creator of Charlie and Lola, which is a huge success in print and as a TV series on Cbeebies. Lauren has also written and illustrated the Clarice Bean book series and due to fan requests, Lauren created a whole series of Ruby Redfort mystery books, a character originally from a book read by Clarice Bean and now a huge success in its own right.

A Leader in Original Thought in Words, Pictures and Style

Lauren uses an arresting style of collage, made from contrasting patterns and colours to bring her artwork to life. Combined with text that breaks all conventions, Laurens’ work leaps off the page and captures the hearts and imaginations of children at many stages of childhood. Her talent has won her many awards, selling millions of books worldwide and taking the role of Children’s Laureate for two years, following on from Chris Riddell.  We are extremely proud to sponsor Lauren Child and we hope you will join us on 7th May at Chiddingstone Castle.

A Place to Read

Our team are busy working on a special spot for Lauren Child and her fans to read in the Castle grounds, inspired by Lauren’s work. We can’t wait to share it with you!
