Gleaming motorcycles are not the only spectacle to grace the ultramodern National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham. The curators have chosen a giant Chilstone Oxford fountain as a foil to the sleek modern lines of the museum buildings. The Oxford fountain is the largest fountain that Chilstone make at our Langton Green Workshops.
When we say large we mean it too. The fountain (pictured) is a feat of craftsmanship as it is still entirely hand made (like all Chilstone) and needs to be built at a single sitting. The lower bowl, for example will easily hold three men standing and is made in a single shift. There is no opportunity to have lunch and so we have a tradition of giving the craftsmenmen a Fish and Chip supper on completion of the bowl.
Chilstone has one of the largest ranges of fountains in the UK. Our showgardens boast no fewer than 15 working fountains, and many of our ornaments can be converted into fountains. The sound and sparkle of gushing water adds life and movement to a landscape and it is easier to acheive than you might imagine.
