The film is a dystopian fantasy starring Christoph Waltz as Qohen Leth, an eccentric computer whizz seeking the Meaning of Life - possibly using an Octagonal jardiniere. The gothic jardiniere is part of a set of gothic (ecclesiastical) inspired pieces and is based on a classic church font. An example can be found at Chiddingstone Castle and planters in the Sanctuary at Westminster Abbey. The Zero Theorem is Gilliam's first feature since The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
