Load Bearing & Reinforcement
All our stone may be fitted perfectly to existing RC beams with tolerances well inside current Building Regulations.
For more information, contact our technical department who will advise on applications and provide every assistance to ensure components are produced to give the optimum performance over many years.
Chilstone has the ability to cast in specialist fixings and reinforcement, enabling the stonework to perform in a structural manner and to give increased strength. Channels, sockets, bars and lifting eyes from major manufacturers are all available. We can also make to your engineer's specification.
Balustrade
Our balustrade has been independently tested and withstands a lateral loading of 0.36KN/m run at 1.1metres. It is made with a continuous steel rod through the centre, providing the structural integrity and strength to satisfy Building Regulations.
Materials
● Homogenous throughout, which makes it an ideal material for
onsite cutting.
● Natural aggregates to BS882
● Admixtures: water reducing agents to BS5075, pigments to
BS1014
● Compressive strength to BS1217
● Reinforcement mild steel with a minimum cover of 40mm or
stainless steel to a minimum coverage of 20mm
Environmental Policy
● Chilstone is handmade except for mechanical mixing.
● There is no byproduct of our process, nor are noxious gases
emitted.
● All moulds are made using timber from sustainable forests.
● Waste is recycled as hardcore making the product entirely
environmentally friendly.
