INTRODUCTION

For over 60 years the craftsmen at Chilstone have created English garden ornaments by hand, and engineered architectural stonework at the workshops in our private 35 acre woodland near Tunbridge Wells in Kent, England.

Our beautiful showgardens and lakes are open to the public all year round and feature many of our finest ornaments, sculptures and garden buildings with an array of working stone fountains, temples, stone urns, sundials, birdbaths, benches and pedestals all created in our unique reconstituted tone. Opening times are displayed on this website.

Chilstone garden ornaments represent the highest standards of English craftsmanship and our work can be seen in great gardens all over the world, such as the Royal Horticultural Gardens at Kew, at palaces such as Hever, Warwick and Kensington and in spectacular private gardens such as Sir Roy Strong's The Laskett on the Welsh borders. We are equally proud to say that there is a Chilstone ornament for even the smallest of gardens.

ARCHITECTURAL CAST STONE

Chilstone have always provided a bespoke architectural service to architects, builders, landscapers and the general public.

Each Chilstone component is made to order and architectural projects are estimated as a free service by our architectural estimating and CAD design team.

Chilstone is perfect for architectural detailing with excellent colour matching, a fine textured surface - identical to carved stone- and with the option of stainless steel reinforcement for load bearing components.

Popular architectural products include stone balustrading, stone columns, stone cills, stone coping, stone pier capitals and temples. Our stone porticos can add 'kerb appeal' and value to your property.

GARDEN ORNAMENTS

The history of composite stone stretches back to ancient times and reached a great popularity in the building boom in Victorian England.

The Victorian processes pioneered by the likes of Coade and Pulham were lost but the process was reinvented by Chilstone in the 1950s.

Chilstone ornaments are often based on the work of great designers of the past and are readily distinguishable as being entirely hand made with a finish identical to carved stone. A great contrast to the mass market ornaments seen in so many garden centres and nurseries!

Today, Chilstone ornaments can be seen in fine gardens all over the World.
